Schools require a fast and efficient payroll service.

Increasingly schools have found it more cost effective to consider alternative providers to the traditional arrangements in schools.

Since April 2001 EPM has offered a fully integrated payroll service to those customers who have a full personnel service. This service has become increasingly popular and we now have a Payroll Portal which is designed specifically to integrate seamlessly and comprehensively with our existing personnel systems. The payroll and absence management side of the portal will help to minimise duplication and off line use of other school databases, spreadsheets and paper records making management of your information much simpler.

With a secure log in process, you could have access to a full range of payroll services such as submitting variable payments, adjustments and absence details:

• An extended deadline for submitting variable and absence data
• You will be able to view a variance report by cost centre, by variance type or person before the data is processed and the initial costing report issued
• New starters, leavers and amendments will be highlighted on the variance entry screen so any contractual changes can immediately be identified
• Access to a downloadable absence report by person, absence type or date
• Access to a downloadable final costing report in excel format.

Following the payrun, at the end of every pay period, a series of costings reports summarising all payments and deductions, SSP and SMP and the Tax and NIC will be provided for the school. A fully detailed payslip is produced for each employee and mailed to the school in a secure envelope.

We deal with all aspects of payroll including pension, PAYE, Union payments and any Attachments of Earnings or Court Orders, which will be automatically calculated, deducted and forwarded to the relevant authority. We can operate salary sacrifice schemes. The EPM payroll service will arrange payment by the appropriate electronic bank transfer arrangement from the school's account set up for that purpose, or from the LA account.

If you are thinking about changing your payroll provider 1st April is the most convenient date to move as this coincides with the end of the financial year for your financial reporting and also simplifies the transfer of tax information.
