2. Telephone Helpline Service
An unlimited telephone consultation
service through a named personnel adviser on all Human
Resource Management issues listed under the full service
above, but excluding administrative services and attendance
at the school. This will cover all categories of staff,
(teaching and support staff) directly employed by the
school. We undertake to respond as soon as possible
on the same day. This will also include a service to
provide advice in response to enquiries via e-mail and
fax including the provision of model documents etc.
but excluding the preparation of specific documents
for the school.
3. Consultancy days
EPM provides a consultancy service
as indicated below. These consultancy days are available
as required and are charged at a daily rate.
By attaching consultancy days to
a contract for the telephone helpline service the availability
of EPM staff, including the Directors, for matters that
cannot be covered by telephone is assured, and the cost
of the days is spread monthly over the year rather than
having to find the money at the time of a problem.
A popular option is a retainer
for 2 or 3 days consultancy which is discounted if contracted
at the time of subscrbing to the 'Telephone Helpline
Service'. If purchased with the telephone helpline service
the school may carry over the cash value to the next
contract year if all the days are not used at the end
of the current year.
This service covers the school
in the event that the school has a major, urgent personnel
problem or issue which could not be handled by telephone.
The days can also be used for training.
Consultancy covers services such
as:
· preparation and representation at an internal
tribunal for discipline or dismissal
· preparation and representation at an Employment
Tribunal
· involvement in trade union negotiation/consultation
· recruitment selection of senior staff, including
psychometric testing
· preparation of and presentation to Governing
Body meeting(s) on policy/strategic issues
· training on all human resource management issues
for Governors and Senior managers
· management and organisation development including
audit of non-teaching staff
· preparation of school specific documents and
policies
EPM advises but the Governors and Leadership Team
decide.
EPM is used to working with all types of schools - and
working with their LEAs. We strive to provide the best
possible advice, information and support - but we clearly
recognise that it is for the school to take the decisions
that are right for the school.
However we do not believe in giving
the advice and then leaving schools to it. For example
we believe that a disciplinary case before the governors
should not be compromised because the employee has access
to a skilled and experienced advocate through his/her
trade union whilst the head teacher may be dealing with
the matter for the first time. EPM can provide the representation
for the schools case whether it is before the
governors or in an Employment Tribunal. EPM will provide
the advice and guidance aimed at keeping the school
out of trouble. We believe the basis of good personnel
management is proactively providing the right advice,
at the right time
EPM has a successful record at Employment Tribunals
where we have been involved throughout the case.
