Payroll Training Co-ordinator

Purpose of the Job

To design, develop, co-ordinate and deliver training for both new joiners and current members of the Payroll team. The individual will also support the Payroll team in identifying training gaps and creating individual development plans as part of the Appraisal process.

Main Responsibilities/Duties of the Job

Company Responsibilities

  1. Manage a small portfolio of schools on all aspects of payroll (start-finish), consisting of multiple monthly pay dates and differing terms and conditions across employers
  2. Accurately input payroll data, balance reports and dispatch payrolls to schools, meeting required audit checks
  3. Process various statutory forms for example: P45s, Starter Declarations, Student Loans, P60, and P11d’s.Comply with the requirements for Auto Enrolment and Real Time Information
    Liaise proactively with HR colleagues to ensure that all contractual changes are administered effectively in time for payroll deadlines
  4. Manually calculate salary changes where necessary, including back pay, overpayments, leavers, annual leave and other ad hoc manual payments
  5. Apply statutory provisions including, PAYE, National Insurance, Statutory Sick Pay, Statutory Maternity Pay, Statutory Adoption Pay, Student loans and Attachment to Earnings Orders
  6. Process data, edit, revise and print letters, tables, reports and other materials as appropriate
  7. Complete monthly and annual Local Government and Teachers’ Pension returns in accordance with statutory deadlines
  8. Answer queries from allocated schools, create and uphold sound customer relationships at all times
  9. Respond to enquiries from third parties on payroll related issues, including correspondence with statutory bodies such as HMRC, Local Government Pension Scheme, Teachers’ Pensions and Third Party providers
  10. Design, develop, co-ordinate and deliver induction training for all new Payroll team members
  11. Continuously carry out skill-gap analysis of existing employees to identify training needs
  12. As required, design, develop, co-ordinate and deliver additional training to the current Payroll team, which will address identified needs or changes/new requirements to be adopted
  13. Consider new training courses/workshops for the Payroll team, which will enable EPM to provide an even greater service
  14. Constantly review and produce relevant training materials
  15. As required, aid the Payroll team with the creation of individual’s development plans, as part of the Appraisal process

  1. Contribute to the sharing of good practice and knowledge amongst colleagues, as required
  2. Attend and participate in regular team meetings as appropriate and training to keep up-to-date with current legislation, policies and procedures and other relevant guidance
  3. Be compliant with EPM employee policies and procedures
  4. Provide support for other colleagues when necessary
  5. Proactively participate in the EPM Appraisal process
  6. Maintain high levels of confidentiality and integrity at all times
  7. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Person Specification

EssentialDesirable
Five 9 - 5 GCSEs including Maths and English, or equivalentExperienced in the use of Microsoft PowerPoint
Minimum of 18 month’s experience on EPM payroll systemsExperienced in providing training to Payroll colleagues
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Good ICT skills including use of Microsoft Office
