Clerk to the Governing Body, Thorndown Primary School
Scale 6 (SCP 20 - £13.11 per hour) pro rata to the hours advertised.
125 hours per year worked flexibly during term time. The number of paid hours is based on 25 meetings per year in term times together with preparation time before and after each meeting and any necessary research work and training courses required.
The Clerk’s role involves organising meetings, preparing agendas, providing advice on procedural matters, taking accurate minutes at meetings and ensuring that we have everything in place to be able to carry out our statutory duties effectively. The ability to use your own initiative and to work independently is essential as are good interpersonal, ICT and organisational skills.
This part time role involves working with the Chair, the Headteacher and the Chairs of our Committees to ensure that we make the best use of the time and talents of our governing body for the benefit of the School. We hold a minimum of 25 governor meetings per year, which take place in the early evening, with the exception of 6 meetings which are normally held during the working day. The majority of the planning, preparation and follow up can, however, be undertaken from home.
Some knowledge of how schools and governing bodies operate would be an advantage but you’re organisational and communication skills and your experience of providing advice in a confidential and impartial manner are essential.
If you are interested in joining us, please contact our Headteacher, Vicci Godbold, who will be happy to arrange for you to visit our school. You can also contact our Chair of Governors, Frank Newton on 07766 10571 for an informal chat.
