SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS CO-ORDINATOR

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced SENCo to provide leadership and direction for the Special Educational Needs department, to include the Enhanced Provision Centre, ensuring that they are managed and organised to meet the aims and objectives of the College.
This post is a key appointment in terms of enhancing and ensuring the positive life chances for our students through success and achievement. As such, we are keen to recruit a dedicated and ambitious professional who will add value to the College in both academic terms and through involvement in the fabric of learning and success beyond the classroom.
The successful candidate will ideally hold, or be willing to achieve, the National Award for Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator and have at least two years’ experience of leading a SEN department. You will have up-to-date knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice along with the expertise to ensure the accurate identification of SEN needs across the College, ensuring a thorough assessment process.
In October 2018, Ofsted recognised that Sir Harry Smith Community College continues to be a Good school. They also acknowledged that we are “A vibrant, welcoming and caring school, in which pupils enjoy their learning and feel valued.” “Pupils who have special educational needs (SEN) and/or disabilities, who attend the school’s enhanced provision centre, make good progress because they are well supported.”

The College serves the market town of Whittlesey, seven miles outside of Peterborough in Cambridgeshire.
