Relief Play Practitioners for Extended Schools Provision

Relief Play Practitioners for the Extended schools provision at The Lantern Primary School Ely.

Two exciting opportunities have arisen in our vibrant and friendly extended schools provision.

Our extended schools provision is very busy and we are fortunate enough to be able to run two breakfast clubs, as well as two stay and play settings. We currently have a room for Early Years Foundation Stage and a separate room for KS1/KS2. We cater for children from the ages of 2.5 – 11 years.
Our Early Years provision operates with a 1:4 or a 1:8 ratio dependent on the children’s ages. The KS1/KS2 provision operates with a 1:10 ratio. We believe that our ratio’s benefit all children who attend and gives us the best opportunity to provide the children with a happy, inclusive and friendly play environment.
You will be joining a very dedicated team, who put the children at the heart of everything they do.

The posts are casual contracts with no fixed hours. However, due to the high volume of children using the setting it may be that you are able to work a set shift each week. Flexibility is requested for these posts as you may be called upon to cover sickness of another member of staff on days you have not been assigned to.

Ideally for the setting we are looking for someone who holds a relevant level 2, 3 or higher qualifications (or working towards this qualification) in childcare or play work.

Running Time of the clubs:
Breakfast Club Hours: 7:30am – 8:50am
Stay and Play Hours: 3:30pm – 6pm

The role will include:
• Contributing to ideas for activities
• Setting up the play environment
• Preparing Food
• Delivering individual activities
• Working with the current staff team to encourage and promote positive
play opportunities.

Desired Qualifications and Skills
• Relevant level 2, 3 or higher qualifications in play-work, childcare and/or
early years (or working towards this qualification)
• Relevant experience of working with children
• Food and Hygiene Certificate (Training can be provided)
• First Aid (Training can be provided)

The salary will be Scale 1 Point 6 of the National Pay Spine for Technicians.

Please contact the wrap around care manager Michael Holt if you have any questions regarding these posts. We strongly recommend visits to the settings to see our team in action and to see our provision rooms. Please contact Michael directly on MHolt@lanternprimary.org
